Our Mission:

The Healthcare Coalition for the North Country is a nonpartisan group of volunteers dedicated to explaining why Medicaid matters for everyone in the North Country, and to preserving access to health care for all.

We are a group of active and retired healthcare professionals, caregivers, business and community leaders, Medicaid recipients, and other concerned citizens.

Our Coalition formed because we believe it is essential to preserve vital healthcare resources in our region as Medicaid funding reductions are being implemented. We are a non-partisan group. Our objective is educational. Together, we are preparing and will be making presentations for public officials, the news media, and other interested parties.  We are also collecting patient stories to help show the need for Medicaid not only with data but also through human experience.

We stand for the implementation of sensible and carefully considered public policy. But not quick, careless cuts to Medicaid that jeopardize the entire healthcare delivery system in our area, as well as the health of our citizens. Local hospitals, nursing homes, and medical practices are at risk of closing, making our already limited access to healthcare even more difficult. Our neighbors and families will suffer.
